Jaguar 2001 XKR

Looks can be deceiving. But the seductive, muscular beauty of the XKR sports car is more than matched by its graceful, dynamic performance. The 370-horsepower supercharged AJ-V8 engine takes the coupe from 0-60 in 5.2 seconds, making the XKR one of the fastest accelerating cars built for the road and not the track.
None too soon I was behind the wheel and headed for Central London. Unfortunately my journey coincided with a torrential rainstorm, so I have to confess to driving rather gingerly. My everyday mode of transportation is a little, red, Renault Clio 16V, thus I was extremely aware of the difference in size (about 6 feet in every direction) and value (about £50,000), of this temporary addition to the family, plus the fact that Nicholas had not even laid eyes on the car yet and should it arrive in a 'bent' fashion, it would not only be the car which would be blue, but the air too.
The Jaguar XKR roadster has been given the production go-ahead, the company announced today. The all-new, compact Jaguar roadster becomes the fifth model in the company’s expanding product range and marks Jaguar’s return to the true sports car market, which it helped to create in the 1950s and 1960s.
