Chrysler Lebaron

The J Body Chrysler Lebaron Coupe and Convertible debuted in 1987; filling the spot left by the cancellation of the Chrysler Laser and the directly K car based Lebaron sedan/coupe convertible. The cars were K based as well; but couldn't really be confused with their predecessors.
The design was quite unlike anything else offered by Chrysler at the time; indeed even today they turn heads.
About 1500 coupes and 1500 convertibles were made in 1988 under the GTC trim level, but only with a 4 speed auto and the turbo I (the 2.5L, I believe). I owned one ditched it after it behaved as if the throttle body was sticking at wide open (the best guess at the actual problem was that the wastegate for the turbo was flying to wide open whenever I stepped on the gas, and not closing down. It happened twice and never again, so the problem was never really found.) Not fun in a car with 150-160 HP and180-190 ft/lbs of torque.
