Acura Integra GSR

When American Honda Motor Company entered the luxury automobile market in 1986 with the introduction of the Acura line, the occasion marked a first for the American automotive industry. No other Japanese car manufacturer had ever marketed a luxury line of automobiles in the United States. Acura was the first luxury import nameplate to design and assemble a vehicle in the U.S. Today, it assembles more cars in America than any other luxury import nameplate.
Nearly a decade of research and development went into the creation of that first Acura. The result was an automobile that combined the handling virtues, all-out performance, and comfort and convenience features traditionally found in upscale European and American luxury marques with reliability, uncompromising quality and user-friendly design that a generation of drivers had come to expect from the best automobiles in Japan.
Fourteen years after its inception, that initiative is still showing extraordinary results. Acura is an acknowledged leader in the luxury-performance import field. From a start up in 1986 that featured three models, Acura has offered up to six distinct lines of automobiles.
